How Does Your Garden Groove?! 04/20/2012
Great job at your concert last night 2nd grade!! You did a fantastic job! Add Comment Mini-Grant Awarded 04/12/2012
I'm so excited that I've been awarded one of the WCPS education foundation mini-grants. I proposed a project titled "Composition Creativity Through Technology" in which students in grades K-5 will use an ipad for composition and improvisation. Using a variety of apps students can be creative and apply things we've learned in class to their own compositions. Technology is the way most composition is done these days and so it will give students a wonderful real world application. I will also be purchasing and Apple TV to be able to mirror the ipad onto the screen and use all the functions of the ipad a whole class. So excited for my order to come in so we can get started using it! Student Blogging 03/16/2012
Over the past several weeks I've had students start posting pictures and blogging about what we are doing in music class! Make sure you click on the link at "What's Happening in Music Class?" or go to the website www.fountaindalemusic.weebly.com! High/Low Voices 02/13/2012

As summer is approaching I want to encourage students to seek out and participate in numerous music and art camps around the county. There are many different camps for children of all ages. Please let me know if you are interested in more information! Exhibition 05/12/2011
On May 24 at 6:00pm Fountaindale will host their first exhibition of learning! This will be an exciting event where students can demonstrate what they have learned this year in school. Look for musical exhibitions of learning in Kindergarten, 2nd, and 3rd grades. Kindergarten will be singing songs they wrote about animals they learned about in class. 2nd grade music and dance experts will be comparing and contrasting the music of Ghana to the music of America. 3rd grade students will be playing recorder compositions! I hope you will stop out and see these great displays of learning! ARF!! 04/13/2011

First graders are using rhythm (ta, titi, and rest) in lots of different ways...including popsicle sticks! Second graders are singing their hearts out to prepare for our concert "Arf!" to be performed on April 14 at 6:30. Third graders are continuing to become expert recorder players. Fourth graders are composing their own raps! Ask your child to perform their composition for you! Fifth graders are finishing rhythm practice at stations and will soon begin composing rhythms using musical dice! |
